Meta Quest 2 is the minimum headset.
For Opacity Vision VR certification, use a Meta Quest 2 or equal/newer headset with a compatible browser and WebXR support. Prepare the device before an official test—not while the timer is running.
Compatible Meta Quest headsets
The compatibility floor is Meta Quest 2. Current Meta headsets at that level or above with browser and WebXR support can run the Opacity Vision experience.
A non-Meta headset should not be assumed compatible merely because its specifications look similar. Confirm that its browser and WebXR implementation work with Opacity Vision before scheduling an official test.
Pre-test headset checklist
Complete these checks before the student starts the official 90-minute testing session.
Charge the headset and controllersBegin with enough battery for setup and the complete official test window. Do not plan to remove the headset mid-test to troubleshoot charging.
Finish updates firstInstall headset and browser updates before test day. Restart the headset after updates and reopen the portal.
Confirm browser and WebXROpen the portal in the headset browser and verify that the VR experience launches correctly.
Check both controllersConfirm tracking, buttons, and controller batteries before beginning the official attempt.
Use reliable internetTest the connection in the room where certification will occur. Avoid captive portals, guest Wi-Fi interruptions, and weak signal areas.
Fit and adjust the headsetSet the straps, lenses, boundary, and viewing comfort before the timer begins so the student can keep the headset on.
Official test sessions have continuity requirements
The official test has a 90-minute timer and is tied to the same headset and browser session.
If a technical interruption occurs and time remains, the student may be able to resume from the same headset and browser. Removing the headset, changing devices, clearing browser data, using a different browser, or allowing the timer to expire can prevent a normal resume.
Tell the student before starting
Keep the headset on, remain in the same browser session, and report a freeze immediately. Do not repeatedly restart, clear browser storage, or switch devices unless support instructs you to do so.

What is the oldest supported Meta Quest headset?
Meta Quest 2 is the minimum supported headset for the Opacity Vision VR experience.
Do Quest 3, Quest 3S, and Quest Pro work?
Yes. These models meet or exceed the Quest 2 baseline and include a browser with WebXR support.
Can a student certify on a laptop?
No. A laptop or desktop may be used for applicable lecture or practice activity, but official VR certification requires the compatible headset environment.
What if the test freezes?
Keep the headset on and remain in the same browser session. If the official 90-minute timer still has time remaining, use the available resume option or contact the responsible coordinator or Opacity Vision support.
